The Mentalist

The main inspiration for this render came when I found a bunch of Persona 4 Adachi artwork while scrolling through Pinterest for references. This combined with an updated version of the Mirror Thomas preset I just made led the way for this project. For the title, I found this while searching for a great title on the internet and stumbled across a TV series called "The Mentalist". The show is a crime drama about a former "psychic" who can "read" people's minds. This I think fits well into the character of Mirror Thomas, who can read into his host's (Thomas Goodman) thoughts and feelings. Once again I utilized the Light Linking feature of Blender 4.0 (it was still in Beta during the project development) to better control the lighting. I originally wanted to render out everything in one layer. However, I later found some issues with light bouncing from the mesh that I cannot remove using Light Linking. So I ended up splitting it into several layers and then merging it in the compositor. On the other hand, this allows me to better control the result in the post-process.
